[Serah Farron - 001 Video] The beginning of it all (New Bark)

[The camera feed swings around slightly as it shows a young woman squinting at a door in confusion in between trying to figure out what had just happened. This doesn't make sense at all.]

Go on a journey? But I already was! Where's Noel? and Mog?

[The camera feed finally gets straightened out so that Serah can into it with a completely baffled look on her face.]

What happened? This doesn't look like anywhere on Pulse at all. Time couldn't have changed things this much, could it? Noel....what's going on!?

[Of course he's not exactly around to answer her.]

I hope they're both okay wherever they are. I wonder what happened, maybe something went wrong? Or maybe...

[Maybe jumping into a supposed time portal with the guy she'd met only yesterday had been a bad idea. No, she's not going to doubt him so easily. She can't afford to give up yet. After all he'd promised that- hey wait a minute that's it!]

Lightning! [He'd promised to take her to see her sister! So that means she has to be here! Suddenly her expression changes and she stares into the camera with a hopeful look on her face] If anyone's watching does anyone know a woman named Lightning Farron? Please, it's really important!

[Oh wait, she's leaving one lousy first impression isn't she. Though the shivering she's doing probably isn't very impressive either. She's dressed for Bodhum weather not this... whatever this is.]

Oh, I'm so sorry! My name's Serah Farron and I guess it's probably pretty obvious that I'm new to wherever this is. So you see, Lightning's my big sis and I haven't seen her in a really long time. So if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[Okay, now she can turn it off. She'd figure out what to say before she turned it on next time. For now it's off to find somewhere warm, because it's clear that lady isn't going to let her back in.]

[All Serah has to do to see it more is stay here and be happy. That'll make Lightning happy and earn her lots of smiles.]

Yeah, but it's not the only thing. You'll find out the rest later.

[But that's not enough. She wants to actively find ways to make her sister smile! Lightning would do the same for her.]

That sounds serious. [She's a little concerned, but it seems like they'll have plenty of time to get things sorted out once they meet up.] I'll remember to ask you when we meet.

[Yes, she would, but it's better than starting at absolute zero, anyway.]

It's not. Not really. [Just...nipping that worry in the bud, even if they will sort things out.] A lot's happened, but...it's nothing to worry about. Not anymore.

[Like starting at absolute zero would phase a Farron. Ha!]

What a relief. [There's probably enough serious stuff as it is without adding more to it.] I can't wait to hear all about it.

[Oh, absolutely no phasing, but that doesn't mean it always has to be that way.]

It might take me all night to tell you everything. Still want to hear about it? [She's joking. Actually joking. Enjoy that surprise, Serah.]

[Something going easy on them for once? Say it isn't so.]

Even if it takes all day and all night.

[The joking is new, but it's nice. Apparently Light really has been through a lot. Maybe not all of it bad even.]

[She won't say it. She doesn't want to jinx it.]

I'll make coffee, then. Maybe bake a cake.

[Oh, most of it was good and amazing and sad and hurting, but she'd do it all over again. And that includes joking about her lack of cooking skills.

Or maybe that's not a joke. Hard to tell, really.]

.... So you can bake now?

[Because as far as Serah is concerned that alone would be big news. Good and the bad, she'll want to hear all about it once she's out of this gosh darned cold weather.]

Maybe. You'll see when we're in the same town.

[Which is going to happen. There's no way she's not going to get Serah, baking skills--or lack of them--be damned. Big sis is on her way to tell you everything, Serah!]

Then I'll add it to the list.

[Since there's a lot of stuff they're apparently going to be doing once they finally meet up.

If you've got a list, we'll have to be sure to do everything on it.

[Oh, so much to do. Bake and shop and talk and have coffee and...be normal sisters. This is going to take a bit of adjustment.]

In that case I should probably add a few more things to it then.

[Normal sisters. Oh yeah that's going to take some adjusting to after so long, but Serah's more than willing to give it a shot. In fact there's nothing she wants more right now.]

Add whatever you want to it. We've got time.

[Or so she hopes. Someday she'll have to pass on some bad news of her own, but for now...for now they can attempt to be normal sisters again. It'll be worth it.]

[Whatever you want is a dangerous thing to say, Lightning.]

Right. I'll see what else I can think of. It'll keep my mind busy on the trip.

[She might even be nice and leave things like new piercings and stuff off her list. Though she's really curious what this news that keeps getting hinted at is all about.]

[So long as it's not as dangerous as a Behemoth, she can deal.]

That may have been the idea.

[Because Serah with more than her ears pierced? Whoo boy that won't end well. Same as the bad news that keeps getting hinted, but that's...well. It'll wait for another few days.]

[She'll try to leave the dangerous stuff off her list. Well.. except for Lightning's cooking anyway.]

Then I'll see what I can do.

[Serah laughs.]

[Oh no the piercing was for Lightning not Serah.]

[Lightning has since learned better than to cook, really. Mostly....she has water types. They'll be fine.]

I'll hold you to that.

[And Lightning just smiles. She's missed that laugh, more than Serah will ever know.

Also, another piercing? ...Whoo boy that may not end well, either. Serah'd have better luck getting her sister into a dress.]

[That's not the most reassuring thing she's ever heard.]

[Serah is silent for a while, just the sound of crunching snow. Then she thinks of a question to ask.]

So what's this place like. When it's not so cold I mean.

[They've both missed each other dreadfully, that's why this reunion is so nice.]

[What? But surely they could figure out something else to fit Light's personality beside for that belly button one. Oooh a dress? That has potential. Don't give her ideas.]

[Yes, well, it's probably best if Serah forces her sister from the kitchen, really.

Also, Lightning's feed will continue to shift as she prepares to head out, but she can answer a question to two...hundred.]

It's nice. The weather goes crazy from time to time, but it's peaceful most of the time.

[Other than when people are trying to kill each other or blow things up...which is often, these days.

And the dress is the better idea, really. She's fine with just her navel piercing. Really. No need to get her tongue pierced.]

[Farron's can talk and walk, they'll manage all the questions while traveling. No big deal.]

So it's not normally this cold, right?

[Because as much as she's glad to see her sister again, this weather puts a damper on things just a little bit.]

[A dress it is then. Though she'd been thinking more eyebrow than tongue.]

[No big at all. ...Provided neither tries to travel, talk, and chew gum at the same time.]

Right. It should warm up in a couple of weeks; this is just the last of the winter weather on the way out.

[Provided another blizzard doesn't roll in, anyway. Spring is nearly here.

...Yeaaaah Lightning would prefer the dress. The navel piercing was rebellion enough.]

[Three things at a time might be pushing it, even for a Farron.]

That's a relief. Not sure if I could handle much more of this.

[No. Bad blizzards go away. Beach bunnies need their sunlight in order to flourish.]

[Can't say she didn't try, but one act of rebellion will have to do.]

[Oh, it would be pushing it. Best that they don't even try, really.]

Then it's a good thing you weren't here two years ago. We had nine feet of snow dumped on us in two days.

[Lightning needs to get Serah to Olivine or Cianwood. Then they can really be beach bunnies again.]

Nine feet of... Snow.

[Okay, obvious joke about her fiance and the idea of him being that tall out of the way... that's a lot of cold white stuff. Way, way too much.]

That sounds awful! [She shudders exaggeratedly while making a face. Yes, she's purposefully trying to keep Light's spirits up by being happy. She'd worry about her sister too much otherwise.]

[Yes, take her to the beach and let her get a cute bikini that will have Light linefacing at everyone for looking at her sister. All while linefacing at her sister for having bought something that looked like that.]

It was something, alright. Took three days to clear it out enough to get the doors open and let everyone outside again. Thought we were going to have riots on our hands.

[She may be over exaggerating. Maybe. Also, Serah? Light did indeed get a wistful look in her eye at that joke, even with the little laugh it brought. You aren't the only one who's missed that giant lug of a fiancee of yours.

And there will be linefaces. Serah, she's going to attempt to get you a very covering one-piece, don't doubt that. Of course, puppy eyes will easily sway her on that decision.]
