[Serah Farron - 001 Video] The beginning of it all (New Bark)

[chasingstorms]

[The camera feed swings around slightly as it shows a young woman squinting at a door in confusion in between trying to figure out what had just happened. This doesn't make sense at all.]

Go on a journey? But I already was! Where's Noel? and Mog?

[The camera feed finally gets straightened out so that Serah can into it with a completely baffled look on her face.]

What happened? This doesn't look like anywhere on Pulse at all. Time couldn't have changed things this much, could it? Noel....what's going on!?

[Of course he's not exactly around to answer her.]

I hope they're both okay wherever they are. I wonder what happened, maybe something went wrong? Or maybe...

[Maybe jumping into a supposed time portal with the guy she'd met only yesterday had been a bad idea. No, she's not going to doubt him so easily. She can't afford to give up yet. After all he'd promised that- hey wait a minute that's it!]

Lightning! [He'd promised to take her to see her sister! So that means she has to be here! Suddenly her expression changes and she stares into the camera with a hopeful look on her face] If anyone's watching does anyone know a woman named Lightning Farron? Please, it's really important!

[Oh wait, she's leaving one lousy first impression isn't she. Though the shivering she's doing probably isn't very impressive either. She's dressed for Bodhum weather not this... whatever this is.]

Oh, I'm so sorry! My name's Serah Farron and I guess it's probably pretty obvious that I'm new to wherever this is. So you see, Lightning's my big sis and I haven't seen her in a really long time. So if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[Okay, now she can turn it off. She'd figure out what to say before she turned it on next time. For now it's off to find somewhere warm, because it's clear that lady isn't going to let her back in.]

That sounds like sis. [And it really does, Lightning might seem prickly, but she's always been there when people need her help.] Nice to meet you then, Kanji!

Yeah, s'nice meetin' you too Serah. [he pauses.] I'd offer to help ya out, but I'm sure your sister's got that covered already.

[chasingstorms]

That's right. She's supposed to be meeting me in Cherrygrove.

[craftingrebel]

Right, well I don't wanna keep you from her. Uhh, good luck. With bein' here and junk...

[chasingstorms]

You're not keeping me. It's not like I have anything else to do right now.

[The crunching sound continues, because she really is talking as she walks.]

Three days to get to the next city she said, so it seems like time is something I have plenty of right now.

Thanks for the luck! I think everything's going to work out just fine.

[craftingrebel]

[he makes a face at the gear, even though she... can't really see it.]

Hah, yeah. You're gonna have a whole buncha time on your hands in this place. It takes about a week or so to get from Cherrygrove to Violet.

[chasingstorms]

A whole week? [So much dismay] Why does it take so long to get anywhere in this place?

[craftingrebel]

Man, I wish I knew. It'd be easier if this place had a bus or something. You can't even get bikes until you've made it half way through Johto.

[chasingstorms]

So walking and biking are the only ways to get around here?

[craftingrebel]

[he nods his head.] Yeah, pretty much. [he pauses.] Though, you can use your pokémon. Like if you had a bird type you could fly just about anywhere you've been to. But you need to beat Falkner in order to get the TM-- which is the uhh, thing that contains the knowledge you're pokémon would need ta fly. The same thing goes with swimming, I think.

[chasingstorms]

So I need to get a pokemon who can fly and a pokemon who can swim. Then find someone named Falkner, beat his pokemon, and I'll get Fly from him. What about for swimming pokemon?

[Yes, she's taking notes. She'd do it anyway, but walking everywhere is a pain. So if she can find ways to alleviate this torture, she's going to take them.]

[craftingrebel]

[he rubs his neck and tilts his head in thought.] The surf TM is in Cianwood, and I'm pretty sure the gym leader's name is Chuck.

[chasingstorms]

Fly from Falkner and Surf from Chuck. Got it.

[She now has a goal. Gain the two travel related tms so she doesn't have to walk so much later.]

[craftingrebel]

[he nods.] Good luck with everything Serah. Though... just as a heads up Cianwood is on the other side of New Bark. So you'll have a lot of traveling to do.

[chasingstorms]

[She makes a face, wrinkling her nose.]

That's what I've heard. I think I'll do more walking here than I have in my whole life!

[craftingrebel]

Well at least it won't kill ya?

You're right, it could be a lot worse. So it's silly to complain.
