[Serah Farron - 001 Video] The beginning of it all (New Bark)

[The camera feed swings around slightly as it shows a young woman squinting at a door in confusion in between trying to figure out what had just happened. This doesn't make sense at all.]

Go on a journey? But I already was! Where's Noel? and Mog?

[The camera feed finally gets straightened out so that Serah can into it with a completely baffled look on her face.]

What happened? This doesn't look like anywhere on Pulse at all. Time couldn't have changed things this much, could it? Noel....what's going on!?

[Of course he's not exactly around to answer her.]

I hope they're both okay wherever they are. I wonder what happened, maybe something went wrong? Or maybe...

[Maybe jumping into a supposed time portal with the guy she'd met only yesterday had been a bad idea. No, she's not going to doubt him so easily. She can't afford to give up yet. After all he'd promised that- hey wait a minute that's it!]

Lightning! [He'd promised to take her to see her sister! So that means she has to be here! Suddenly her expression changes and she stares into the camera with a hopeful look on her face] If anyone's watching does anyone know a woman named Lightning Farron? Please, it's really important!

[Oh wait, she's leaving one lousy first impression isn't she. Though the shivering she's doing probably isn't very impressive either. She's dressed for Bodhum weather not this... whatever this is.]

Oh, I'm so sorry! My name's Serah Farron and I guess it's probably pretty obvious that I'm new to wherever this is. So you see, Lightning's my big sis and I haven't seen her in a really long time. So if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[Okay, now she can turn it off. She'd figure out what to say before she turned it on next time. For now it's off to find somewhere warm, because it's clear that lady isn't going to let her back in.]

[Does anyone know Lightning Farron? Oh, a lot of people. Is Serah going to get one of them? Nope. She's getting the woman she's seeking right off the bat. She looks a bit older, her hair's a bit longer, she's a little skinnier, but...it's your big sister, Serah. One who's very happy, and very surprised, to see you.]

[Have a close up of her baby sister's face as Serah peer's into the camera for a closer look. Lightning being older isn't too big of a deal, after all Serah herself is older now and it would have been weird if her sister was still twenty-one too.]

So he really did it, Noel helped me find you!

[If only she could thank him, but he seems to have vanished...]

[At least seeing Lightning has driven the fact that it's cold far from her mind.]

[A closer look, and Lightning can see that Serah's aged since she was last seen. Etro...how long has it been for her? Years? And who's Noel?]

Noel? Serah, what are you talking about? What happened?

[The feed shifts as Lightning says that, big sis on the move because it's cold out there and it doesn't look like Serah's wearing much of anything. Move your butt, Farron.]

[Now she's back to being confused again.]

But Noel said you sent him to find me.

[All of her confusion and man it's so cold!]

[Serah's not the only one confused. What the hell happened?]

I don't know anyone named Noel, Serah. We were both on Pulse with Snow and the others when I last saw you.

[Not counting the last time Lightning saw her here but that's for another time. When Serah's not freezing and Lightning's not bolting to get to her before she freezes.]

Of course, I remember that, but that was three years ago now.

[She'll just leave out the fact that no one else remembers that happening just yet, because this is already complicated as it is.]

[Serah, enjoying seeing your sister stumble in surprise. Three years? Bit of a shock? Understatement.]

Three years? How is that...

[Possible? There's no way it can be; she's only been here a year and a half! Time can't be moving that much faster back home...can it?]

[Guess she's going to have to explain after all.]

That's right. Just before I came here it was already AF 3. Three years after the fall.

[She pauses and then adds on quietly.]

Three years after you disappeared. No one even remembers you were there on Pulse except me. They all think you're in the pillar with Fang and Vanille.

[That would be appreciated. And while AF makes a good deal of sense, the rest of it...not so much sense is made. And despite knowing that Serah wouldn't lie to her, Lightning can't believe what she's being told.]

That can't be right. Fang and Vanille were in the pillar, but I was with you and the others at the base. We were trying to make a home on Pulse.

I'm still not sure what happened, but I know you're not really in the pillar.

[She really doesn't want to have to tell her sister this part, but it's not like she can lie to her.]

It's true that you did vanish though, no one's seen you since. Sorry.

[Lightning shakes her head at that, unwilling to let Serah blame herself for any of that.]

Don't be. It's not your fault.

[A sigh, and more moving feed. She's got two boys to track down.]

Besides, I've been here a year and a half. It was too much to hope no time had passed back home.

I know that. It's just that no one likes having to give depressing news, that's all.

[She smiles slightly.]

I'm just glad I get to see you again.

Yeah. I know.

[It takes a moment because there's something that Lightning isn't saying, but she smiles back at her sister. It is good to see her again.]

Say that when we're in the same city, alright?

[Serah actually laughs a little at that. It feels good to laugh at something her sister's said again.]

Okay!

[Something on Lightning's face shifts as Serah laughs. It's as if worries and fears are lifting, just a little, even if she's said nothing on the topic of them.

At least, they lift for a moment before she's back to all business. No surprises there, right?]

It's a three day walk to the next town. You may want to get moving before the weather gets any worse.

Three days?!

[Okay now she's serious again. Because how is she going to pull this off without freezing?]

Yeah. It can be quicker if you push yourself, but that's not a good idea right now.

[Not in this weather and not when she thinks that Serah isn't exactly used to that kind of pace. The first few days are...really rough.]

It's okay. I can push it. I'm stronger than I look now.

[She smiles, because this part at least is true.]

Living on Pulse hasn't always been easy, but it's really helped everyone get stronger.

[The weather's going to be an issue though even with all that.]

[Lightning nods, understanding that, but...]

Even Snow would have trouble with this place in this weather, Serah. If you wear yourself out in the cold, you'll just get sick.

Oh.

[She shifts slightly, because it really is cold out and she's not wearing all that much.]

I'm not sure what else I can do though.

You can keep moving. It helps.

[Sometimes. Lightning's moving and she's cold. This is the problem with being women from coastal cities where it never gets actually cold.]

Just don't push yourself. If you start to get tired, rest. You won't get to the next town any faster if you pass out on the road.

[This is about the time her feed starts to bob slightly as she starts making her way out of New Bark.]

Okay, I'll be careful.

[It'd beyond suck if she found Lightning just to botch it up before they'd even fully been reunited after all.]

[Good, she's moving. So long as she's moving she shouldn't freeze...or so Lightning hopes.]

It should take me that long to get to you. A few days, at most.

I'll be alright. Farron's are tough.

[Sob don't say that Serah, Hope's mom did and look what happened to her gosh.]

Yeah. But this place can be tougher than anyone sometimes.

[Serah, darling, remind her to tell you stories of this place someday. So many to tell.]
